Friday
Welcome BBQ Sponsors
guests, families and competitors gathered at The Galley and enjoyed
a pleasant BBQ. This function traditionally starts the convivial
social aspect of SOMR and many proudly continued the tradition into
the wee small hours. The competitor lineup with six interstate entries
from three other States promises a hot, truly National sailing competition.

Regatta
Dinner and Presentation A
smorgasbord meal, drinks and a guest speaker (Terry Travers on his
Antarctic multihulling) would be pleasant enough for most with the
awarding of trophies, medallions and $2000 in cash prizes. But SOMR
tradition demands that crews provide some item of entertainment
and the 2001 offerings of 'entertainment' were, unfortunately of
the usual standard! It was, however great fun with the 'Desperado'
crew staging a mock race around the dining tables incorporating
all of the small, embarrassing moments suffered by some others during
the Regatta. This effort earned them a prize which was promptly
consumed in glasses!.
